Lemon - Amy

Watercolor. I was just hanging outside, sipping some wine and grabbed a lemon from my neighbor's tree. It was a bit too cold and had to cut out quicker then I thought. There is definitely that feel in the air saying "Spring is Coming!" I am looking forward to the time change tomorrow. Since I get up early anyway, my wake-up schedule will not seem as odd. Here's to more sunlight at night!

My 2nd watercolor - Robin

And my first botanical print!

There were size issues with scanning so the borders got cut off and I don't have the inclination to fix the middle were the 2 parts meet. I wish I had the experience to keep things in better scale not I can't yet paint small enough and still get detail. I like my yallow jacket best.
I have my next project to start. Pattern and then pattern used on a product. There is going to be fun. It will be my last project and I am very sad. Next quarter it's back to computer generated work. I will really miss the hands-on classes.

Summoning Hestia~ Watercolor

Summoning Hestia~ Watercolor card Goddesses

Hestia was the virgin goddess of the hearth (both private and municipal) and the home. As the goddess of the family hearth she also presided over the cooking of bread and the preparation of the family meal. Hestia was also the goddess of the sacrificial flame and received a share of every sacrifice to the gods. The cooking of the communal feast of sacrificial meat was naturally a part of her domain.

Getting ready to watch our modern day Hestia do her thing and cook with the freshest ingredients and pour her love into a pot for over 200 this weekend and calling all her muses and goddess friends to help and celebrate. All in the name of public education!

The Kitty Who Grows in the Pot by My Door - Rachel

Boots isn't officially "our" cat, but he's made us "his" people. For the last year or so Boots has been having regular sleepovers, he knocks on the screen asking to come in, cozies down in a lap or at the foot of a bed and settles in. Oh, and he has recently taken to laying down in the flowerless flowerpot by our front door when we aren't home. It's really quite absurd, this big grey cat cozied down in an abandoned flowerpot, but I find it charming.
Today I got it in my head to try reproducing a photo of Boots in the flowerpot using charcoal pencils. Charcoal and sketching are new for me and I wasn't entirely displeased with the result, but neither was I entirely satisfied. He seemed so scowly and angry, which wasn't really at all his mood.
I then decided to try another approach, using photoshop to "sketch" him. I've posted both.

Watercolor of Abby - Robin

This is my first watercolor and I am really happy with the way it came out. I am looking forward to trying some more of this medium.

Design - Robin

I like bugs and flowers - can you tell? I did this with ink and watercolor pencils.

Daffodil - Rachel

Another new medium for me, I tried my hand at watercolor using yesterday's photo as inspiration. I have found that photographing paintings is as difficult as any other part of the process. The original has better color than represented here, but this gives you an idea. Any tips on photographing paintings and drawings would be appreciated.
