the progress so far

So I am not great with portraiture, but this actually pretty fun. I (to coin a word from Miss Lori) am "wonky", but I kinda like it. Let me know what you think

  2. looks like it is coming along nicely so far! Just wondering about the texture. How did you get it and what your plans are for it?? Inquiring minds want to know!

  3. I left a big comment did you get it??
Lynday, Great start! Without knowing where you want to go I will give you a few comments and take what you need to further your painting and the rest through out.
I would pay attention to shadows and take them much darker, under the chin, the whole left side of the face needs to go to shadow. I am not seeing the nose at all yet, so that needs to go darker. Remember that when an object turns it goes into shadow. The eyes are round and need shadow...reserve white for only the whitest.
Great Job! Not sure i could do a self portrait yet! Much easier to do someone else or someone you don't know. Your brave.

  4. Lynda,
Not sure the texture works for this...what is your direction? You might want to call this a study and get a new canvas and continue all you learned on that. The texture takes aways the beauty and softness of your face, unless that's the point??

  5. hehe Lori, this is my wart picture. Ladies, this canvas is the splatter canvas. Hence the odd textures. I had no idea it would photograph so well and show the texture. I have removed everything except the eye closest to the hand. The rest, I realized, were way off balance. So I took them out, or rather covered them and am working it out again.
